Ah, to be a "kid" again-and have an appointment at Dr. Wendy Tang's brand new practice, Just4Kids Pediatric Dentistry, located in Surrey, British Columbia!
There's plenty of kid-style charm from the moment you enter the office. The cheerful reception area eases into the delightfully playful sitting space with brightly colored wall murals, "clouds" suspended from the vaulted ceiling-and a tree house that towers just below. Fanciful creatures-both insect and imaginary-flutter across the murals, drawing the eye upward and coaxing a chuckle and smile from the beholder...whether kid or adult!
As in all specialty practices, pediatric dentistry requires equipment and computer support for the office to function at optimal levels. The 1500-sq. ft. comprising the office's area situates 4 operatories within its layout; 2 closed treatment rooms and 2 hygiene chairs in a semi-open setting. "Dr. Tang chose Pelton & Crane cabinetry for its options and functionality and our DENTRIX® and ScanX computer systems. This will allow her to streamline all of her dental imaging and view patient charting and radiographs easily. She also chose the compact Boyd treatment chairs, which will give her the capabilities she needs to more effectively treat patients [under 18]," notes Equipment Sales Specialist J-P Grondin.
The streamlined layout provides excellent traffic flow and the efficient sterilization area aids in heightened productivity. The two closed "quiet" treatment rooms provide dedicated spaces for for conscious sedation.
"Henry Schein provided all of my equipment, and I had service from Field Sales Consultant Lynder Bevan..[who] has always been there for us whenever we need something. She is efficient, dependable, and friendly," comments Dr. Tang. "The kids are thrilled to see the tree house. They also love the bright colors, which are accentuated by the natural light in all areas of the office." The Doctor recommends doing lots of research before building a practice to ensure that one gets exactly what they want. "Visit as many offices as possible to see what works and what doesn't," she advises.
"I feel comfortable working in my practice," adds Dr. Tang. "Patients come to our office, love our staff and decor; they feel at home, and in turn, refer their friends and family."
