New Dental School Trains Aspiring Doctors with Cutting-Edge Equipment
The new Midwestern University Dental Institute provides dental students with a state-of-the-art learning environment while also offering the community access to cutting-edge dental technology. Helping with the dental school that opened on Midwestern University’s Glendale, AZ campus in 2011, Henry Schein met with experts at the school to begin work on Downers Grove campus in Illinois. Midwestern University’s Dental Institute is the first new dental school in Illinois in three decades and one of just three in the entire state. When the institute was finished, it featured 216 operatories, specialty care spaces for oral surgery, and a wide-variety of new dental equipment, including GENDEX and DEXIS digital sensors. TeamSmile, a program conceived by Dr. William Busch, began in 2007 when he learned of a child who died as a result of an untreated abscessed tooth. Together with Henry Schein, they developed the concept of partnering dental care with a fun sports experience to draw at-risk children into a dental setting. The recent event in Georgia provided 337 children with nearly $130,000 worth of dental and preventative care while meeting Tony Gonzalez and the entire tight-end crew of the Atlanta Falcons.
