Wyndham Sugar Bay Resort & Spa

Issue: Winter 2007

A Caribbean Playground

With its own private beach for sunbathing and water-sports enthusiasts and its Ocean Club for late-night dancing and gaming, this Caribbean hideaway provides variety and value.

The resort’s three restaurants serve elaborate breakfast and lunch buffets, a la carte dining at the Manor House, tropical drinks and nightly themed dinners with live entertainment-including calypso music and fire eating-incorporated in the all-inclusive nightly rate.

For no extra charge, guests are invited to enjoy swimming in three connected pools, daily SCUBA clinics, snorkeling directly off the beach, kayaking, sailing, tennis at six courts, workouts in a state-of-the-art fitness center, aqua aerobics, and step classes. The resort also offers complimentary weekly manager’s receptions and rum-tasting events. The complimentary Grotto Grove Kids Klub offers iguana feedings and T-shirt painting. Family movies are shown nightly at no extra charge.

For an additional fee, the resort arranges off-site activities, including helicopter tours, day sails to the British Virgin Islands, deep-sea fishing, golf at nearby Mahogany Run, and rental car “self-exploring.” Guests also may enjoy duty-free shopping in nearby Charlotte Amalie with a limit of $1,600 per person, the highest in the Caribbean. The resort’s Journeys Spa, bumper boats, miniature golf and video lottery slot machines also are available for an additional fee.

Wyndham Sugar Bay provides a picturesque wedding site whether an elaborate event on the St. John’s Terrace with views of neighboring Virgin Islands or a simple ceremony on the beach at water’s edge. With the assistance of an on-site Director of Romance, devoted duos have plenty of options for wedding day packages such as bouquets and boutonnieres, music, videography, photography, champagne, and salon and spa treatments. Additionally, the resort features an on-site Convention Center with 17,680-square feet of meeting space accommodating up to 800.

Wyndham Sugar Bay Resort & Spa, voted the Best Spa Resort in the Virgin Islands for 2005 and 2006 at the World Travel awards in London, is a hasslefree Caribbean option because visitors to St. Thomas do not require a passport to enter or return to the United States. Direct flights run from many popular U.S. gateways such as New York, Miami, Baltimore, Washington D.C., Atlanta, Chicago, Philadelphia, Newark, Fort Lauderdale, Detroit, Charlotte, and San Juan.
